Party Time: Aiya Napa

Aiya Napa is situated at the far eastern end of the south coast of the island of Cyprus, a resort famous for its sandy beaches. Along with Ibiza, Rimini and Mykonos, Aiya Napa today is considered a party capital as well as being a family holiday destination.

Aiya Napa means “Holy wooded valley”  in Greek and the name comes from a Venetian monastery located at the center of the town. In ancient times the town was surrounded by thick forests.

Legend has it that the icon of Aiya Napa was accidently found by a hunter in pursuit of his prey. This icon was later named The Virgin Mary of Aiya Napa and a monastery was built around the original cave in 1500 AD.
